Oskar Hiemstra1

     Oskar Hiemstra was born in 1868 in Friesland, Netherlands.1 He married Jennie Hiemstra, daughter of Cornelius Van Vlaanderen and Lena Maas, in 1904.2,3 Oskar Hiemstra married Johanna Wiegel in 1934 in Paterson, Passaic County, New Jersey.1 Oskar Hiemstra died on 14 July 1944 in Fair Lawn, Bergen County, New Jersey, (7-20 Bergen Ave).1 He was buried in Fair Lawn (Fair Lawn Cemetery).1
     Oskar Hiemstra immigrated in 1894.2

Oscar Hiemstra, 76, died suddenly of a heart attack, while staying at the home of his nephew Stephen Keyser of 7-20 Bergen Avenue, Fair Lawn. Mr. Hiemstra was staying at the home of his nephew while prepring to move into his own home.
Born in Friesland, Netherlands, Mr Hiemstra was married in Paterson in 1934 to the former Johanna Wiegel by the Rev. John Walkotten, pastor emeritus of the First Christian Reformed Church. Services will be held at 131 Haledon Ave. Interment will be at the Fair Lawn Cemetery
Surviving are his wife Mrs Johanna Hiemstra, a daughter Nellie Rooze, a son Cornelius van Dam of Montana and 3 grandchildren.1


He was a dairy farmer. He advertised "Cows for Sale" in the "Telegraaf" on 3 December 1917. The farm was located on 22 Totowa Road, the first farm, from where the Totowa trolley stops.4,2
