     Herman Pruiksma was born on 18 July 1891 in Wymbritseradeel, Friesland, Netherlands.1,3 He married Hannah Pruiksma.1 Herman Pruiksma died on 15 March 1975 in Boonton, Morris County, New Jersey, (the New Jersey Fireman's Home).1,4 He was buried on 19 March 1975 in Fair Lawn (Fair Lawn Memorial Cemetery).1,4
     Herman Pruiksma immigrated with Jesse Pruiksma and Minnie Pruiksma in 1894.1

Herman Pruiksma Sr., Midland Park's first building inspector, died Saturday in the New Jersey Firemen's home, Boonton. He was 83. Mr. Pruiksma was born in the Netherlands and came to the US 81 yrs ago. He lived in Midland Park for 57 yrs.
Mr. Pruiksma was a selfemployed carpenter and the operator of a small farm. He was a member of the First Reformed Church of Midland Park, a life member of the Midland Park Fire Co., and a member of the Midland Park Exempt Firemen's Association. He had been an avid bicycle rider.
Survivors include 2 daughters, 2 sons, three sisters, Matilda de Korte of North Haledon, Saddie (Mrs. Fred de Ruiter) of Clifton, and Ella Zeeuw of Prospect Park. His wife, Hannah, died in 1973. Services will be Wednesday in the J. H. Olthuis Funeral Home, 159 Godwin Ave. Burial will be in Fair Lawn Memorial Cemetery, Fair Lawn.1

A funeral service for Herman Pruiksma of 270 Erie Ave, first borough building inspector, was conducted yesterday at the J. H. Olthuis Funeral Home. Mr. Pruiksma, 83, died Saturday night at the New Jersey Firemen's home, Boonton, after a long illness. Mr. Pruiksma, a native of the Netherlands lived in the borough for 57 yrs. He came to this country as a child and lived in Passaic and Prospect Park.
He was a self-employed carpenter before his retirement, and also operated a small farm in the borough. He was a member of the First Reformed Church. Mr. Pruiksma was a life member of the Midland Park Fire Co., and a member of the Midland Park Exempt Firemen's Association. Survivors include 2 daughters, 2 sons, three sisters, Matilda de Korte of North Haledon, Saddie (Mrs. Fred de Ruiter) of Clifton, and Ella Zeeuw of Prospect Park. His wife, Hannah, died in 1973.4

1910 Fed. census (1 Jun): Household of Jesse Pruiksma, 209 Summer Street (2nd Ward), Passaic, Passaic County, New Jersey.5 Herman Pruiksma and Hannah Pruiksma appeared on the 1920 census in East First Ave, Midland Park Borough, Bergen County, New Jersey, their children Hermine (4 1/2) and John (11 mo).6
