Abraham Verduin1

     Abraham Verduin was born on 8 December 1796 in Ouddorp, Goeree-Overflakkee, South Holland, Netherlands.1,2 He was baptized on 1 January 1797 in (NH), Ouddorp, Goeree-Overflakkee, South Holland, Netherlands.2 He married Antje Steenmark on 29 June 1821 in Ouddorp, Goeree-Overflakkee, South Holland.3 Abraham Verduin married Jacomijntje Melis on 19 September 1834 in Ouddorp, Goeree-Overflakkee, South Holland.4 Abraham Verduin died on 18 February 1889 in Paterson, Passaic County, New Jersey.1 He was buried on 21 February 1889 in Hawthorne (First Holland Cemetery).1
     His parents were Klaas Verduin and Willemijntje van Hoven, his grandparents Claas Verduin and Matie Abrams Roon & Jan Franse van Hoven and Cornelia Beeuwsier.3 He and Jacomijntje Melis immigrated on the Dutch Bark Maria Magdalena from Rotterdam, arriving in New York on 8 May 1852. Listed as Abrm Verduin (55, farmer) and his wife Jacobnynte (56). They are listed next to Willem and his wife Elizabeth.5

His obituary appeared on 19 February 1889 in the Paterson Daily Guardian
Abraham Verduin died on Monday, Feb. 18th, 1889, aged 91 yrs, 1 month and 21 days. The relatives and friends of the family are respectfully requested to attend the funeral from the house of his son, 129 Montgomery Street on Tuesday Feb. 21, at 1.30 o'clock P. M. and from Holland Church, cor. Bridge and River Street at 2 o'clock P. M.1
