     Rein Schaper was born on 12 May 1864 in Workum, Friesland, Netherlands.2 He married Geertje Lunenburg on 6 November 1890 in Hemelumer Oldeferd, Friesland, Netherlands.3,4 Rein Schaper died on 14 May 1934 in Ridgewood, Bergen County, New Jersey, (441 Farview Ave).5,6 He was buried on 17 May 1934 in Ridgewood (Valleau Cemetery).6
     On 24 March 1904 is the registration of the official recognition of Jacob by his father.7 He and Geertje Schaper immigrated on the Ryndam, from Rotterdam, arriving 9 Apr 1914 in New York, with four children: Wabe (21), Aaltje (15), Jeltje (14) and Jan (11). Their last residence was Balk. Their contact in Holland was her brother H. Lunenburg in Balk. They were going to their son and brother Jacob Schaper in Midland Park. Also mentioned is their daughter and son-in-law in Paterson.8 Rein Schaper was a cement block manufacturer in Hawthorne, Passaic County, New Jersey. He and Gertrude Schaper lived in 1931 in Ridgewood, Bergen County, New Jersey.9

Rein Schaper, father of Jacob Schaper Ridgewood ashes and garbage removal contractor, died Monday evening at his hime at 441 Farview Ave at the age of 70. He was employed by his son and worked until Friday last. On the following day, teh anniversary of his birth, he had a sudden seizure and never rallied from it. Mr. Schaper was born in Friesland, Holland. Contractor Schaper, who immigrated to America from Holland in 1911, brough his father and mother to this country in 1914. Mr. Schaper is survived by his wife, 3 sons and 3 daughters, all of whom live in this country. Funeral services were held Thursday afternoon in the First Holland Reformed Church, Midland Park. The interment was in Valleau Cemetery.6

1920 Fed. census: Household of Ryan Schaper, Wortendyke Roads (#148), Franklin Township, Bergen County, New Jersey. Household consists of Ryan, his wife Gertrude and three children: Wabe (26), Julia (18) and John (16), and a nephew Ryan (20). The family immigrated in 1914, Ryan in 1919. The men were masons and cementblock contractors, Julia was a weaver.10
