Helen Langerlan1

     Helena Engelina Carpentier was born on 28 October 1889 in Rotterdam, South Holland, Netherlands.1,2 She married Gijsbertus Arie Langerlaan on 19 July 1911 in Rotterdam, South Holland.3 Helen Langerlan died on 18 January 1975 in Auburn, Cayuga County, New York, (Auburn Memorial Hospital).1 She was buried in Clifton (East Ridgelawn Cemetery).1
     Her parents were Gerardus Carpentier and Geertruida de Klerk.3,2 She immigrated on the Nieuw Amsterdam, from Rotterdam, arriving in New York on 6 Jul 1916 with two children: Albert (3) and Johan (2). She was going to her husband G. Langerlaan in 27 Barclay Ave, Clifton, Passaic County, New Jersey. Her contact home was her mother G. Carpentier.4

Helen E. Langerlan, 84, of 149 Madison Ave., died Saturday in Auburn Memorial Hospital, Auburn, NY. She was born in the Netherlands and had lived in Clifton before moving to Midland Park 12 yrs ago. She was a member of the Order of Eastern Star of Clifton. Surviving are s sons, and 2 brothers and 2 sisters in the Netherlands. Her husband Gilbert died in 1954. Services will be at the J. H. Olthuis Funeral Home, 159 Godwin Ave. Burial will be in East Ridgelawn Cemetery, Clifton.1

1920 Fed. census: Household of Gijsbertus Langerlaan, 269 ?man Street (2nd Ward), Passaic, Passaic County, New Jersey. Household consists of Gijsbertus, his wife Helen and two children: John (5) and Albert (7), his parents: Gijsbertus (55) and [unreadable] (62) and a brother-in-law John Carpentier (23).5
