     John Martens was born on 16 February 1881 in Netherlands.1,3 He married Truus Schagen.1 John Martens died on 9 April 1966 in Haledon, Passaic County, New Jersey, (75 North 14th Street).1 He was buried on 12 April 1966 in Orange (Rosedale Cemetery).1
     Jan Martens immigrated on the Noordam, arriving in New York on 3 Oct 1910. His contact in Holland is his mother S. W. Martens, Westergracht 83, Haarlem. He is going to his brother-in-law C. Hermeling in 114 Butlerstreet, Paterson, Passaic County, New Jersey.1,4

John Martens, 85, died Saturday in his home, 75 N. 14th Street, after a brief illness. Born in the Netherlands, Mr. Martens came to this country in 1910 and settled in Paterson. He was a resident of Haledon for the past 36 years. He was married to the former Truus Schagen. Mr. Martens retired 16 yrs ago as a stationary fireman. Funeral services will be held Tuesday in the Vermeulen Memorial Home, 131 Haledon Ave, with interment following in Rosedale Cemetery, Orange. Surviving in addition to his wife are 2 sons and 4 grandchildren.1
