Geertje Lunenburg was born on 18 March 1862 in Gaasterland, Friesland, Netherlands.2 She married Rein Schaper, son of Wabe Schaper and Jantje Reins de Bok, on 6 November 1890 in Hemelumer Oldeferd, Friesland, Netherlands.1,3 Geertje Lunenburg died on 20 February 1936 in Ridgewood, Bergen County, New Jersey, (441 Fairview Ave).4,5 She was buried on 24 February 1936 in Ridgewood (Valleau Cemetery).5
Her parents were Jacob Hendriks Lunenburg and Attje Jans Bos.1 On 24 March 1904 is the registration of the official recognition of Jacob by his father.6 She and Rein Schaper immigrated on the Ryndam, from Rotterdam, arriving 9 Apr 1914 in New York, with four children: Wabe (21), Aaltje (15), Jeltje (14) and Jan (11). Their last residence was Balk. Their contact in Holland was her brother H. Lunenburg in Balk. They were going to their son and brother Jacob Schaper in Midland Park. Also mentioned is their daughter and son-in-law in Paterson.7 Gertrude Schaper and Reim Schaper lived in 1931 in 441 Farview Ave, Ridgewood, Bergen County, New Jersey.8

Funeral services for Mrs. Gertje Schaper, who died on February 20 at her home at 441 Fairview Ave, were held on Monday at home, and at the First Holland Reformed Church in Midland Park, the Rev. William C. DeJong and the Rev. Henry Alkema officiating. Interment was in Valleau Cemetery. Mrs. Schaper was born in Vriesland, Holland, on March 17, 1862, and came to this country 22 yrs ago. She had made her home in Ridgewood for the past 19 yrs. She is survived by three sons: Jacob Schaper and John Schaper of Ridgewood and William Schaper of Hawthorne, and three daughters: Mrs. Janet Leentjes, Mrs. Alice Koning and Mrs. Julia Green, all of Ridgewood.5
