4 Allen Place was occupied by William S Roeder and his wife Harriet from 1929 until their death. They moved in as newlyweds, and spend their entire married life here.3,4

William S Roeder was born in 1900 in Maryland.5 He married Harriet on 8 August 1929.5,4 William S Roeder and Harriet Roeder moved in October 1929 to Radburn to 4 Allen Place.4 William S Roeder appeared on the 1930 Census as the head of household at 4 Allen Place, with Harriet as wife.5 The value of the house was $9,800.5 William S Roeder was a highschool teacher. Before his marriage he taught in Woodbridge, NJ, afterwards in Paterson, and he retired from a teaching job in New York in 1970.5,4 He did not own a radio in 1930.5 William S Roeder was a Veteran of the World War.5 William S Roeder died on 23 December 1993 in Radburn.6 A Memorial Service was held on 22 January 1994 in the Church in Radburn.6
On 27 December 1993 the obituary of William S Roeder appeared in the The Bergen Record and read in part:      
WILLIAM S. ROEDER, 93, of Fair Lawn died Thursday. He had been a teacher and administrator for the New York City Board of Education, where he worked for 30 years. He was an Army Veteran of World War I. He was a 1927 graduate of of Franklin and Marshall College and received a doctorate from New York University in 1933. He was a member of the Church in Radburn, Fair Lawn. Arrangements: Vander Plaat Colonial Home, Fair Lawn.6


Harriet Roeder was born on 31 May 1906 in New Jersey.5,7 Harriet Roeder attended Woodridge High School, and was a 1927 graduate of in Wellesley College.8,4 Harriet Roeder was before her marriage, a librarian at the Woodbridge Public Library.8 Harriet Roeder died on 8 June 1992 in Radburn.8 A Memorial Service was held on 13 June 1992 in Church in Radburn.8
On 11 June 1992 the obituary of Harriet Roeder appeared in the The Bergen Record and read in part:      

HARRIET BRECKENRIDGE ROEDER, 85 of Fair Lawn died Monday. She had been a librarian at Woodridge Public Library in the 1920s. She was a member of the Church in Radburn, Fair Lawn. She was a 1927 graduate of Wellesley (Mass.) College. Surviving are her husband William S and two daughters. Memorial services will be Saturday at 2 pm at the Church in Radburn. Arrangements are by VanderPlaat Colonial Home, Fair Lawn.8
